Leading the bill is the ever-amazing Superego — formerly Pow! Negro — who will take to the stage in their hometown for what promises to be an absolutely electrifying show.
Spring is the time for new beginnings, so it’s fitting the festival will be hosted in two new(ish) additions to Freo’s famous live music scene: The Aardvark, below the Norfolk Hotel, and Rock Rover, which takes punters into the South Freo FC clubrooms.
Sharing the bill is the ever-effervescent Your Girl Pho (another top local act to keep your eye on), Mt Mountain and Doctopus.
It all kicks off at 7pm, and tickets are cheap — $15 plus booking fee for RTRFM subscribers, or $20 for the general public. Get ‘em while they’re hot.
If you fancy yourself a bit of a chook connoisseur, get down to Northbridge on Sunday for Perth’s first fried chicken battle.
Fried. Chicken. Battle. How did it take us so long to get this on our events schedule?
The Mother Clucka Fried Chicken Fest is going down at Badlands Bar on Aberdeen Street from 2pm on Sunday, with Soul Provider Catering, Ninja Cuisine, Majestic Wings and Kazz’s Jamaican Kitchen among the vendors on the bill vying to top the pecking order.
Best of all, you get to decide on whose dish was most finger-lickin’, and who will be crowned the cluckin’ king of cooked chooks.
Check out the event’s Facebook page for more information.
Privé Fashion Platform at Ascot Racecourse
Racing season kicks off with a bang this month, but who could forget one of the most important parts of a day at the track — looking the part.
The Privé Fashion Platform takes to the catwalk at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday, showing off the latest styles from the likes of Jessica Bratich, Jonté Designs, Reign The Label and Tania Claire Australia.
The local designers have partnered with Perth Racing to coincide with the launch of the Ascot Racing Carnival, with a runway and after-show pop-up store.
Your ticket gets you a cocktail on arrival, two-hour beverage package, and a preview of the 2018 Ascot Racing Carnival, as well as after-party access with F.A.D.J on the decks.
East Fremantle Yacht Club birthday and family open day
East Fremantle Yacht Club is turning 85 on Sunday — can you believe it? — and to celebrate they’re throwing their doors open and inviting everyone down to join the festivities.
It’ll be a fun day out for all involved, with a bouncy castle and games for the young ones and a tour of the Duyfken replica for the ones who are young at heart.
Have a go at sailing, check out the radio-controlled boats, dragon boats, or even give stand-up paddleboarding a go.
But of course, it’s a birthday, and what would a birthday be without a cake? Boring, if you ask us.
Good thing the old salts at EFYC have thought ahead, and will be cutting the cake at midday. Get in early if you want a slice.
The festivities kick off at the base of Petra Street, East Fremantle, from 8am. Check out the EFYC website for more information.
Comedy at the HQ
In need of a chuckle? Aren’t we all? Well the guys over at Colosoul Magazine have just the tonic.
They’ve teamed up with improv superstars Only The Human for a bunch of belly laughs at the Colosoul Building in Subiaco on Friday night.
